Temporary power supplier Aggreko today reported its turnover in 2009 passed through the £1 billion barrier.
Aggreko’s turnover for the year to 31 December 2009 totalled £1.04 billion, up 8 per cent from £947 million.
The group’s pre-tax profit increased by 28.7 per cent to £246.5 million from £191.6 million.
Aggreko invested £150 million in its fleet during the year with the average age of the fleet new reducing.
International power projects now contribute more than 60 per cent of the group’s profit.
Chairman Philip Rogerson said: “Aggreko delivered another record performance in 2009, despite the challenging economic conditions.
“While we remain cautious about the outlook for the Local business, we are encouraged by the strong start made by International Power Projects in 2010.
“As a consequence we are increasing our December guidance for fleet capital expenditure in 2010 by £20 million to £200 million; most of which will be invested in the International Power Projects business.”
“Given the encouraging prospects for International Power Projects, and the additional fleet investment, we now believe that we will do a little better than we anticipated at the time of our December trading update.”
