BUDGET 2011: Additional apprenticeships promised

Chancellor George Osborne has promised to increase the number of apprentices for UK businesses by 40,000 a year.

These overnment-funded apprenticeships would be targeted at unemployed young people. He also said there would be 10,000 more apprenticeships made available for high level skills from just 1,500 today.

There would also be 100,000 more work experience places made available, he said.
