CSR 2010 Regional Breakdown: South-west

The government will invest in the M4/M5 roads construction, although figures for the investment are yet to be made available.

The Chancellor also pledged support for the Poole Bridge construction and the Weymouth 2012 package in order improve transport links for the Olympic Games.

The South-west will also benefit from the creation of the Green Investment Bank that will be funded by a £1 billion spending allocation and will be used to encourage significant additional investment in green infrastructure.

The £1.4 billion Regional Growth Fund will also channel funds into the region, supporting projects with significant prospects for sustainable private sector growth.

Tax increment financing will enable authorities to borrow against locally raised business rates.
