Demand for construction workers increases in December

Demand for permanent and temporary construction workers in December significantly increased compared with the previous month according to new report on jobs.

The KPMG and Markit economics report on jobs index revealed demand for permanent construction workers in December totalled 60.5, with a score over 50 denoting an increase in demand.

Meanwhile demand for temporary workers totalled 57.1 compared with November, the third highest increase in demand of any industry in the UK.

The previous December construction worker demand was the lowest of all industries with a score of 29.6 for permanent staff and 30.2 for temporary workers.
