EC Harris lures Atkins rail MD

EC Harris has appointed former Atkins director Mark Cowlard as the new head of its rail sector team. 

Mr Cowlard was managing director of Atkins Rail Solutions business and will be responsible at EC Harris for growing its rail business, with a particular focus on the UK, Asia and the Middle East. 

During his 10 years at Atkins, Mr Cowlard worked as the group commercial director for the rail business and held various business leadership roles before becoming managing director of Rail Solutions in 2010, where his clients included Network Rail, Transport for London, the DfT, contractors and train operating companies.

Prior to this he held senior development management and supply chain roles at the Dixons Stores Group and the Mobil oil company.

Mat Riley, head of infrastructure, industry & utilities at EC Harris, said: “Mark has an excellent reputation and track record within the rail industry, and we are very pleased to welcome him to EC Harris. He will be a huge asset to us as we help our clients to deliver the many critical, yet complex, rail projects that are currently in the pipeline.”
