Building envelope specialist FK Group has grown turnover to £82m in its latest financial results.
The Altrincham-based firm saw revenue rise 16 per cent in the year to 31 March 2017.
Pre-tax profit slipped slightly to £2.5m, from £3.2m the prior year, which chief executive Francis Keenan attributed to a major raft of investments across the company.
FK Group – which works for a core group of main contractors including Bowmer & Kirkland, Carillion, Laing O’Rourke and McLaren – opened a London office in Shoreditch to host its newly created project team, and moved to larger office premises in Doncaster, Birmingham and Newport.
Major projects worked on in the last year include 2 St Peter’s Square in Manchester for Laing O’Rourke, and a major industrial development for McLaren near Manchester Airport.
Growth in the last two years has been substantial, with the contractor now employing 180 people, up from just 80 in 2014, and almost doubling its turnover from £45.8m in the year to 31 March 2015.
According to Mr Keenan (pictured), the firm, established in 1979, already had a £50m pipeline of work secured for its 2017/18 financial year.
The third intake to the firm’s apprenticeship scheme is scheduled for September this year, bringing the total number of apprentices in the business to 30.
FK has invested in technology as well, with the group achieving BSI certification BIM level 2.
Mr Keenan said: “This year has seen solid growth, as we have consistently proven our capabilities in providing the complete building envelope solution.
“This, coupled with our clients’ confidence in our performance, has enabled us to further invest in new offices, new technology and our people.
“We are fortunate to have developed and maintained relationships with some of the industry’s biggest names, with whom we have a strong forward order book and defined long term pipeline.”
