Jobs at risk as GF Tomlinson closes Birmingham housing business and restructures contracts arm

GF Tomlinson has given 48 staff at its Birmingham contracts business notice of redundancy consultations, and shut down its housing division in the city.

The 48 staff are principally contract workers, such as contract managers, surveyors and accounting stuaff, but the firm insists fewer than 48 will be made redundant.

No other offices are affected by the restructuring.

The Birmingham business had two arms – contracts and housing. The housing business has been closed down and no longer has any employees.

The group has around 250 staff based in the UK.

A spokesman for the company said: “The GF Tomlinson group is restructuring its group operations and has unfortunately taken the decision to reduce the number of staff at its Birmingham office, which will remain open.”

The Birmingham office will remain open, and GF Tomlinson Birmingham will continue to trade, albeit at a reduced level.
