May Gurney announces board room changes

May Gurney has appointed current Speedy Hire director and former Mitie director Ishbel Macpherson as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Ms Macpherson, aged 49, was an investment banker for over 20 years, specialising in UK mid-market corporate finance.

Her most recent role was as head of UK emerging companies in the corporate finance arm at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

She currently holds non-executive directorships at Game Group, Hydrogen Group, Speedy Hire and Dignity. Ms Macpherson has joined the May Gurney board with 5,000 shares.

May Gurney chairman David Sterry said: “Ishbel’s extensive non-executive experience and her corporate finance background mean that she is ideally placed to make a valuable contribution to the board and to chair our audit committee. We very much look forward to her input to May Gurney as our company continues to grow.”

David Galloway, who was appointed a non-executive director of May Gurney in 2002 and chairs the audit committee, has decided to retire from the board and will stand down at the company’s AGM in July - at which time Ms Macpherson will become the audit committee chair.

A statement to the stock market said: “The board would like to thank David for his valuable and incisive contribution over the last eight very successful years and to wish him the best for the future.”
