Newcastle contractor in administration

Newcastle contractor Dorin Construction has been placed into administration with the loss of 100 jobs.

The firm, whose subsidiaries include Gilwood Mast, an M&E firm and plant hire company, D&K Machinery and Plant, was unable to refinance its debt. The former md, Richard Brown, has separately launched D&K Hire Services, employing around 20 of the staff from the former hire part of Dorin.

PriceWaterhouseCoopers’s Toby Underwood and Ian Green have been appointed administrators.

Dorin made a pre-tax loss of £287,000 in the year to 30 June 2009.
