Network Rail has pledged to take a close look at the OFT’s findings before making any decisions on how to react.
The huge construction client – which announced a five-year, £35 billion spending programme earlier this year – expressed confidence in its procurement processes.
The OFT fined 103 construction companies a total of £129.5 million this morning after they were found to have colluded on building contracts.
But a Network Rail spokesman said: “Network Rail is committed to seeking the best value from its contracts in terms of price, performance and delivery. We therefore have procurement processes designed to achieve.
“We will study the findings of the OFT’s investigation carefully and have no further comment at this time.”
