Only one of the UK’s biggest contractors by turnover has been named in the National Apprenticeship Service’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2014 list.
Infrastructure services provider Amey was the only contractor from the UK’s 100 largest contractors by turnover to be recognised for its apprenticeships.
The list is compiled annually by the National Apprenticeship Service in partnership with City & Guilds, and recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices.
Firms on the list were selected by a panel of judges for their exceptional contribution to apprenticeships.
Other contractors recognised on the list were £24m-turnover retail specialist Barlow Group, North-west refurbishment and regeneration specialist Emanuel Whittaker, and infrastructure adoption specialists JLES Group.
Housebuilders Barratt Developments, Redrow Homes and Midlands-based William Davis Homes were also named among the top 100 apprenticeship employers.
Ductwork manufacturer for the construction industry Impact Ducting Sales and plant hire firm Liebherr GB were named in the list. It also featured seven housing associations and providers.
