Orders in three months to November up by 4pc on year before

Construction orders in the three months to November increased by 4 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier and by 1 per cent compared with the previous three month period.

Orders in the three months to November totalled £8.43 billion compared with £8.39 billion.

November’s orders totalled £2.77 billion compared to £2.71 billion in October.

The month saw a £200 million drop in infrastructure orders, but that was offset by a £300 million increase in public non-housing orders.

Orders in the 12 months to November 2009 fell by 14 per cent compared with the previous 12 months.

In the three months to November 2009, compared with the same period a year earlier, private housing orders rose by 23 per cent and public and housing association housing orders rose by 9 per cent.
