Ringway to scale back Beach Communications division

Highway maintenance contractor Ringway said today that it was making redundancies in its Beach Communications division which suffered significant losses in 2008.

Vinci-owned Ringway said it “has been forced to significantly curtail the activities” of Beach Communications.

Beach Communications specialises in the design, build and installation of systems for traffic control, CCTV and utility services.

The design to scale back Beach comes after Ringway said the subsidiary made “significant losses in 2008” and ongoing operating losses from the fibre optic cable and ducting operations.

A spokeswoman for Ringway said: “The above action is very regrettable and will result in some redundancies from the unit dealing with the fibre optic cable and ducting operations in Greater London.”

The Beach Communications closed circuit television operation is to continue thanks to a strong forward order book.
