Higgins Construction has won a £17.5m contract to transform part of Ealing Council’s Golf Links Estate in Southall.
The work will include the replacement of 20 existing “sub-standard” homes built in the 1970s with 68 new homes for affordable rent and sale.
It will also include the construction of a community centre and nursery.
The area was identified in 2008 as one of a number of high-intervention estates in need of regeneration to bring it in line with the government’s Decent Homes standard.
Higgins Construction will be regenerating the estate’s Peterhead Court, which follows on from the regeneration of 57 council homes at Dormers Rise.
Work is expected to start in early autumn, with completion due in the summer of 2018.
Higgins Construction new business director Paul Cooke: “The core of our business is to build communities that are stronger, safer and more sustainable and we work closely with local residents and partners to ensure this happens.
“We are also committed to taking on local labour at each of our sites and will create employment opportunities for local people around Peterhead Court through our training and apprenticeship schemes.”
