Aecom names infrastructure boss replacement

Aecom’s transport director Colin Wood has been promoted to chief executive for civil infrastructure in place of the outgoing Richard Robinson, who has joined HS2.

Mr Wood, who is currently UK & Ireland managing director for transport, will head up civil infrastructure for Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa with immediate effect.

It was announced yesterday that Mr Robinson would be taking up the role of HS2’s chief operating officer in the autumn.

Mr Wood’s chief executive role will see him lead a business of 8,500 staff across 50 countries, working in transportation, water, ports and power sectors.

He will also continue to lead Aecom’s UK & Ireland transportation business until the company finds a permanent replacement for the role.

Mr Wood joined Aecom just over a year ago from Airtanker, a consortium of aviation manufacturers that delivers aircraft, services and training for the RAF.

Prior to this, he was chief executive of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, where he was responsible for a portfolio of projects worth more than £4bn.

He has also previously held roles with Transport for London as its head of Olympic and Paralympic readiness, and in senior roles at Heathrow and Capita.
