Amey hires ex-Balfour boss as non-exec chairman

Amey has appointed former Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler as the new non-executive chairman of its board.

The ex-Balfour boss currently sits on the board of four organisations including Bovis Homes and BAE systems.

Mr Tyler replaces Sir Richard Mottram who served as chairman from 2008.

Reacting to his appointment Mr Tyler said: “Following on from a difficult period for the sector, it is clear that the Amey business has navigated this situation well and this is an exciting time to be joining.”

Last month, Amey submitted plans for a new £200m energy-from-waste plant in Cambridgeshire.

In September, Amey poached Carllion’s regional director for the South-east Ray Jones to head up its highways executive team.

Mr Tyler will take up the position immediately.
