Balfour Beatty procurement director exits after eight months

Balfour Beatty group procurement director Grahame Ball is leaving the business after eight months.

The contractor said Mr Ball had done a “good job” at getting the group’s procurement capabilities onto a firm footing, but confirmed that he would be leaving after a short handover period.

Mr Ball will be replaced by group chief information officer Chris Johnson, who is taking on a broader role that will include procurement within his current responsibilities.

A Balfour Beatty spokeswoman said: “As we move into the next phase in the evolution of our procurement capabilities, our objective is to align procurement more closely with the business units, especially in the areas of direct materials supply, while ensuring we capture the benefit of Balfour Beatty’s buying power.”

In June, Balfour Beatty sustainability director Paul Toyne left the business, following a group restructure. He was replaced by health and safety director Heather Bryant, who also took on a broader role covering health, safety, environment and sustainability.
