Alastair Smart steps down as Crown Estate's head of development and project management

The Crown Estate’s Alastair Smart has resigned as head of development and project management, the company has confirmed.

Mr Smart has stepped down from his role “to pursue fresh challenges” after six years with the group, a spokeswoman said.

He joined The Crown Estate in May 2009, heading up planning and construction for the group’s real estate development.

This included development in central London and projects outside the capital.

Previously he worked for Lend Lease as director of new business and development director in retail and was part of the executive management team.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “After nearly six years at The Crown Estate, Alastair Smart has taken the decision to resign as head of development and project management to allow him to pursue fresh challenges.

“We want to thank Alastair for his commitment and hard work and we wish him every success in the future.”
