Essential Living founder joins London firm

Former Essential Living chief operating officer Martin Bellinger has been named chairman of London developer-contractor Guildmore.

Mr Bellinger was one of two Essential Living founders to quit the firm last year following a restructure.

Guildmore was established in 1998 and has a pipeline of more than £100m, primarily in the affordable housing, regeneration and healthcare sectors.

The firm has worked with clients including Metropolitan, Notting Hill and Hexagon and is taking on projects as a developer and as a main contractor.

Among its recent schemes was the restoration of the Grade II-listed Poplar Baths in Tower Hamlets.

Mr Bellinger said: “Guildmore has an enviable reputation, an exciting project pipeline of over £100m and a great future working with some of the country’s leading housing associations.

“Affordable housing could not be higher up on the political agenda right now and I am excited to be working on developments and mixed-use schemes that will make a huge difference to their respective communities.”
