Ex-Bouygues director joins Speller Metcalfe

Speller Metcalfe has appointed former Bouygues director Martyn Chaplin as its commercial director.

He replaces Steve Quantrell, who has retired having spent 15 years at the company.

Mr Chaplin joins the Midlands-based firm after 15 years working primarily in the region with Thomas Vale and, following its acquisition, Bouygues.

Speller Metcalfe managing director Des O’Neill said: “Martyn joins us with a strong track record of astute commercial management, knowledge and experience which will bring valuable insight to the board and help implement and drive our forward strategy.”

The contractor’s recent wins include the £11m second phase of Warwick Independent Schools Foundation’s Project One Campus scheme.

It was also one of 17 contractors named on the Department for Work and Pensions’ new estates contractor framework in August.
