High Speed 2 hires programme and strategy directors

HS2 Ltd has poached senior managers from EC Harris and Foster Wheeler Energy to bolster its programme and strategy directorate.

It has appointed former EC Harris Saudi Arabia principal Colin Morris as programme delivery strategy director.

Former Foster Wheeler Energy divisional manager Jonathan Crone has joined HS2 as director of the programme management office.

Both Mr Morris and Mr Crone will report to HS2 director of programme and strategy Alistair Kirk.

Mr Morris has more than 26 years’ experience in programme and project management, as well as engineering.

At EC Harris he led work with the Saudi government on high-profile projects, including new multi-modal transport systems in Jeddah.

Mr Crone has more than 30 years’ experience on major infrastructure projects, both in the UK and overseas, including project management of Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport.

HS2 Ltd chief executive Simon Kirby said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Jonathan and Colin to the team.

“HS2 will soon become one Europe’s largest infrastructure projects and their experience of delivering highly complex projects on time and on budget will be essential as we prepare for the start of construction in January 2017.”
