McCarthy & Stone has appointed Darren Humphreys as new managing director for its regional office in the Midlands.
Mr Humphreys will join the team from Cala Homes, where he was managing director for the Midlands since 2006.
He was also David Wilson Homes managing director for the East Midlands between 2003 and 2006.
His new Coventry-based role will focus on land acquisition, scheme design, planning and construction of new developments, along with the marketing and sale of new apartments.
Mr Humphreys said he was looking forward to delivering “strong bottom-line results” in a customer-led business.
McCarthy & Stone’s chief executive Clive Fenton, who joined in January as part of a major management shake-up said the appointment was “critically important” for the company.
In March, McCarthy & Stone’s new chairman John White told Construction News the group would look to open satellite offices over the next two to three years in areas where the team “was spread thinly”, such as Wales and the Midlands.
The retirement developer specialist also said it would cut up to 90 jobs in 2014 to focus on development-led schemes.
