Huw Davies joins Murphy as non-executive director

Outgoing Wates chief financial officer Huw Davies has joined Murphy as a non-executive director.

Mr Davies will depart Wates in March 2016 and will be replaced by Crossrail’s finance director David Allen. Mr Davies will chair Murphy’s audit and risk committee.

Bellway non-executive director Mike Toms will also take up a non-executive director role at Murphy, chairing its remuneration committee.

Murphy Group chairman Alastair Kerr said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Huw and Mike, who have already made a great contribution to the company in their first weeks with us.

“Huw and Mike join Murphy at an exciting time and their experience and financial acumen will help us achieve our ambitions to grow and improve our quality of earnings over the coming years.”

Mr Davies has been Wates’ chief financial officer and company secretary for the past decade and is a non-executive director of Hydro International and Wessex Water, as well as chairman of I CAN, the children’s communication charity.

Mr Toms has been a non-executive director at Bellway since 2009 and is also a non-executive director of Birmingham Airport Holdings.

He was formerly an executive director of BAA as well as a non-executive chairman of Northern Ireland Electricity and a non-executive director of Viridian Group and UK Coal.
