Murphy has poached Van Elle’s managing director for piling to become its director for ground engineering.
Andrew Waghorn has joined Murphy after three years as divisional head at the Nottingham-based piling specialist Van Elle.
He has more than 15 years’ experience in the ground engineering sector working in a number of roles at Van Elle in the UK and also in Australia.
Mr Waghorn is the sixth senior appointment by Murphy since August.
Other new recruits include former Serco global finance director David Burke, who was appointed as chief financial officer, former Interserve manager Alex Jones, who has become Murphy’s BIM and digital construction head and Capita’s former head of civil and structural engineering Alastair Smyth, who is now Murphy’s engineering director.
The appointments are part of Murphy’s 10-year plan to increase its revenue to £2bn by 2025, which would represent a tripling of its 2015 figure of £648m.
