Engineering specialist SES has appointed Steve Tovey as its new regional director for the Midlands and South-west.
Mr Tovey joins from Balfour Beatty, where he has held roles with Haden Young, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick.
Based in Birmingham, he will be responsible for SES’s £300m growth plan across the Midlands and South-west regions.
Mr Tovey will also help oversee expansion of the firm’s offsite business, Prism, in both areas.
Projects the contractor is working on in the regions include a £43m M&E package on the £300m Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre, which is being built by Interserve.
SES managing director Jason Knights said: “Steve brings substantial knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the business and we are confident that through the ongoing implementation of our regional growth strategy, we can continue to build on our impressive portfolio of high-profile projects under his guidance.”
Mr Tovey is the latest in a string of senior appointments at SES, which was acquired by Wates in 2015.
Mr Knights was appointed as managing director in June this year after previous MD Andy Wall stepped down after less than 12 months at the helm.
At the time, SES said he had “decided to seek a new challenge and pursue the next stage of his career outside the Wates Group”.
In July, parent company Wates promoted Steffan Battle, formerly its preconstruction director for London, to group head of preconstruction covering both Wates and SES.
It also appointed Lucy Abbott as group BIM director for both Wates Group and SES.
