Bouygues UK has announced two internal promotions at its subsidiary Thomas Vale, giving the contractor a new chairman and managing director.
Tony Hyde, who has been managing director of Thomas Vale since 2002, has been promoted to the role of chairman.
Thomas Vale construction director Gary Mail will succeed Mr Hyde as managing director of the company.
Earlier this year, Thomas Vale formed a new construction division, merged its housing divisions and made a number of changes to leadership positions following its review of how the business could become more competitive.
French construction giant Bouygues bought Midlands-based construction firm Thomas Vale in April 2012.
Mr Hyde will continue in his existing role as Bouygues UK’s director for corporate responsibility, and Mr Mail will also join the Bouygues UK leadership team.
Bouygues UK chairman Madani Sow said: “As longstanding members of the senior management team of Thomas Vale, Tony and Gary have a true understanding of our clients’ needs and the local Midlands marketplace in which we operate.
“This, coupled with their leadership qualities, extensive industry knowledge and proven business plan delivery, will enhance the performance of the Thomas Vale business in future and help us to maintain our market-leading position in the area.”
Mr Hyde joined Thomas Vale in 1980 and was a member of the management buyout of the company in 1992.
He added: “It is very important that the Thomas Vale business is led by people with a vested interest in the region.
“Thomas Vale, our clients and the fantastic people that work with us have been a huge part of my life since I joined the business in 1980. I am delighted to take on the chairman role and be given the opportunity in such an exciting time in the development of the business.”
