Wates managing director of infrastructure Terry O’Connor has departed the business just five months after joining.
Mr O’Connor’s appointment was announced in August 2014 as Wates looked to “identify new and adjacent markets”, including in rail and roads.
A spokeswoman said at the time of his appointment that he would be responsible for “developing an overarching strategy to formulate a business proposition that operates in different business cycles to Wates’ main business”.
Before his time at Wates, Mr O’Connor held senior positions at Alfred McAlpine and Miller Group.
A Wates spokeswoman said: “Following the appointment of Terry O’Connor as managing director of infrastructure in August last year, the Wates Group can confirm that Terry will be leaving with effect from January.
“Terry’s appointment formed part of Wates’ wider strategy to identify opportunities for growth, one of which is the increasing investment in roads and rail.
“Wates’ strategic review of opportunities in new and adjacent markets is very much ongoing.”
