WYG installs transport chief in newly created role

WYG has appointed a transport planning chief in a newly created role to boost its expertise across the UK and internationally.

Ian McGrane, who previously spent 20 years at London-based consultant Integrated Transport Planning, joined the AIM-listed engineering consultancy as director or transport planning last month.

WYG was hit by two profit warnings last year and in December reported a £2.8m half-year loss as its net debt doubled

Based in the firm’s Milton Keynes office, Mr McGrane will be responsible for developing WYG’s transport planning capability in the South Midlands, the firm said.

Mr McGrane will also support the growth of WYG’s international team, having had experience on transport planning projects across sub-Saharan Africa.

WYG Midlands head of transport Colin Shields flagged Mr McGrane’s “deep understanding of statutory highway and town planning legislation, combined with his commercial awareness of the transport sector”.
