ISG wins Kent leisure centre refurbishment job

ISG has been awarded a £2.9 million project with Maidstone Borough Council and the operators The Maidstone Leisure Trust and their managing agent, Serco, to refurbish and upgrade facilities at Maidstone Leisure Centre.

The fast-track scheme will see the contractor convert a former sports hall by installing a mezzanine floor to create a new 500 sq m, two-storey fitness suite with dry change facilities.

The existing fitness suite will be reconfigured into two new dance studios and a series of treatment rooms.

ISG will also carry out refurbishment work to the lagoon pool, upgrading the filtration system and carrying out minor repairs, as well as replacing glazed roof panels.

The Village changing area will undergo a programme of refurbishment and ISG will create a more accessible front entrance and carry out general refurbishment throughout the building.

Works are being carefully phased to ensure the sports centre remains operational throughout the duration of the project, which commences mid-October and is scheduled for completion by spring 2010.
