Leicestershire masterplan put to public

A masterplan for the regeneration of Earl Shilton and Barwell in Leicestershire has been put to public consultation.

The Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council plan focuses on sustainable urban extensions to the south of Earl Shilton and west of Barwell, as well as the regeneration of the two settlement centres.

The masterplans will guide the form and appearance of the proposed development to ensure that it not only provides attractive environments for residents to live and work in, but that it is also well integrated with the existing communities of Earl Shilton and Barwell.

It is anticipated that by 2026 the proposed development will deliver approximately 1600 new homes and 4,500 sq m of employment development at Earl Shilton; and approximately 2500 new homes and 6,000 sq metres of employment development at Barwell.

This growth will be supported by the provision of community facilities including new schools and healthcare services, substantial recreation space, and improved walking, cycling and public transport provision between Barwell, Earl Shilton and nearby Hinckley.
