Scotland councils unite to let large framework

All 32 Scottish councils will combine for a construction and engineering services contract from September.

The race for a massive contract for engineering and construction services for all 32 councils in Scotland will be opened in September.

Councils grouped as Scotland Excel have said in a procurement prior information notice that they will start the awarding process on 11 September for a framework contract for engineering, construction and related technical professional services.

These will include services relating to roads and structures, transportation and traffic, environmental engineering, land surveying, drainage and flooding, geotechnical and testing, project management, sustainable development, planning and development, CDM-C and legal/contractual support.

Scotland Excel will prepare, negotiate and approve contracts on behalf of the councils.

Certain other public bodies have associate status and will be entitled to use the framework on the same terms as local authorities.
