Stoneleigh Park £10m redevelopment put on hold

Four contractors bidding for the £10 million redevelopment of Stoneleigh Park have been told they must wait for the October spending review before a preferred bidder will be announced.

Interserve, Kier, John Sisk and McClaren were expecting an imminent announcement after Wates dropped out of the bidding at the final stage.

But the project, which compromises of a National Centre for Rural Enterprise and has been split into five phases, has been put on hold while the government decides how to allocate funding.

Phase 1 will be a livestock centre to create educational awareness and will include demonstrations and exhibitions, phase 2 will be an equine centre, phase 3 will be a food and visitor attraction area, phase 4 will be a science and technology park and phase 5 will be an educational centre for schools and colleges and will include lecture theatres and seminar rooms.
