Bill Brett has been appointed chairman of the Mineral Products Association for the next two years.
The Brett Group chairman takes over from Dyfrig James and is the second of the MPA’s four chairman to date to serve from an independent company.
The MPA represents the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and silica sand industries, with a membership of 465 companies.
Mr Brett said: “I am proud to take over the role of chairman and am keen to contribute as fully as I can to the association and its activities over the next two years.
“I am passionate about strengthening the unity of this great sector which is so important to the UK and the recovery.”
MPA chief executive Nigel Jackson paid tribute to outgoing chairman Mr James and cited his engagement with regional MPA members as a highlight of his tenure.
He said: “Members have appreciated Dyfrig’s inclusive approach and the efforts he has made to engage with all parts of the MPA, particularly in the regions and of course his beloved Wales.
“Dyfrig has continued the tradition of communicating how it is possible to take a wider sectoral view for the good of all companies.”
