Bouygues, Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci head December contractor table

A £70m London housing scheme has helped send Bouygues to the top of the December contractor league table.

The deal for client Taylor Wimpey to build 150 flats on the site of North Westminster School underpinned the contractor’s £114.9m winning haul for the month, according to Glenigan.

Sir Robert McAlpine was close behind in second for the period, its total of £94.2m led by a £70m contract for Hammerson on the Watermark West Quay retail scheme in Southampton.

Third-placed Vinci’s monthly haul was dominated by three packages worth a combined £90.2m that form part of the £320m Allerton Waste Recovery Park in Yorkshire for client AmeyCespa (Ferrovial).

Stand-out contracts in December also included sixth-placed John Sisk securing a £40m student accommodation project in Birmingham for Alumno, while fourth-placed Royal Bam is the contractor on a £40m college scheme in St Andrews for Fife Council.

The latest annual table shows Kier retained its position at the top ahead of Balfour Beatty, though both saw their 12-month hauls decline for the year to December.

Meanwhile Interserve leapfrogged Bam into third and ISG climbed above Willmott Dixon into 11th.
