Brookfield Multiplex heads August contractor league as Kier extends annual lead

Brookfield Multiplex has taken top spot in August’s contractor league table thanks to a £200m office and retail scheme in London’s Leicester Square.

The company fended off compeitition from second-placed Lend Lease and Kier, which dropped to third having topped the previous month’s table.

Kier did however secure the most contracts by volume, bagging 26 deals over the month according to Glenigan.

The combined wins across the top 50 contractors in August rebounded to hit £2.65bn, up 26.4 per cent compared with July, which had recorded a sharp month-on-month decline.

In the annual table covering the 12 months to August, Kier extended its lead over second-placed Balfour Beatty, its haul growing 4 per cent to £2.08bn compared with the 12 months to July.

Balfour held onto second but its annual haul dipped slightly to £1.91bn, while Galliford Try moved up one place to fourth and Carillion dropped four places to eighth.
