CN100 countdown: Shepherd

This month marks the publication of the 2016 CN100, our annual analysis of the state of the industry that ranks the top 100 contractors by turnover. We continue our countdown to this year’s edition with a look back at how 2015’s top 30 contractors have performed in previous CN100s.

Shepherd has been solidly in the mid-20s of the top contractors by turnover, peaking at 23rd in both the 2012 and 2014 rankings.

Revenue rose sharply between its 2012 and 2014 entries before dipping by 8 per cent as per last year’s table.

The contractor has remained profitable despite pre-tax figures having fallen, particularly between the 2013 and 2014 CN100s, when profit more than halved.

Margins were at industry-leading levels as per the 2012 and 2013 CN100s, before subsiding to just below the top 100 average.
