Kier tops July and annual tables in contractor league double

A whopping number of small-scale deals has secured top spot for Kier in July’s contractor league table.

The firm led the top 50 over the month with 27 wins worth a combined £240.5m, according to construction intelligence unit Glenigan.

Kier’s biggest win in July was a £20m commercial scheme in Cheltenham for NFU Mutual, with few of its other deals exceeding £10m.

Morgan Sindall took second for the month with a similarly high-volume haul, scooping 22 contracts totalling £136.9m. Royal Bam was third with 10 wins worth a combined £114.4m.

Across the top 50 there were few major deals in July compared with the activity recorded in June.

Kier’s success over the month helped it hold onto top spot in the league table covering the past 12 months, though Balfour Beatty remained close behind in second.

Morgan Sindall’s strong July saw it move up one place in the annual table to third, with Carillion dropping to fourth.
