Kier secured second place in the month with 22 deals – the highest number of any contractor over the period – just ahead of Willmott Dixon in third.

Wates was a relatively distant fourth, though its haul did include an £80m development for MEPC in north-west London, which will see the contractor deliver 378,000 sq ft of Grade A office space.

Elsewhere in September Multiplex finalised an £80m contract for 345 flats on London’s Trafalgar Way for Essential Land – enough to give the firm ninth in the table – while Carillion will deliver a £73.1m student halls project for the University of Manchester.
