BL Development, which is owned by Abu Dhabi Financial Group, handed the contractor the Ten Broadway project, which will deliver six residential blocks on the site of the former Metropolitan Police headquarters in central London.

The sole contract was enough to send Multiplex to the summit of June’s contractor table, which ranks firms by the value of deals during the month.

McLaren claimed second for the period with three wins worth £227.6m, according to construction intelligence provider Glenigan.

These included a £100m mixed-use development in central London for international consultancy the Dar Group, and a £100m contract for phase one of the Hale Wharf mixed-use scheme in north London.

McLaren’s second place was its joint-highest ranking on record, after the firm was also runner-up in April’s table.

Third place in June went to Bouygues, its four deals totalling £181.8m and underpinned by a £135m agreement to deliver the latest phase of Cardiff University’s £300m innovation campus.

There were several contract highlights during June, including sixth-placed Wates scooping the £150m Axis Square scheme in Birmingham for LCR, and Costain taking seventh thanks to £150m of smart motorway work on the M6 between junctions 21a and 26.
