Among the various batches of work announced was the £4bn defence estate optimisation programme, which aims to help deliver a 30 per cent reduction in the MoD’s built estate by 2040. The provisional contract list covers design services, building works, soft and hard FM, and specialist technical services.

-£104m – Swing in Skanska construction

Year on year, Skanska’s group construction income has swung from an operating profit of SEK 918m in Q3 2017 to an operating loss of SEK -310m– a swing of approximately £104m. Project writedowns in its US business continued to “overshadow” performance, the Swedish firm said. Overall, the group reported a SEK 493m (£41.9m) pre-tax profit for the third quarter.

Brown and Mason’s officially recorded average was the longest among those of 15 specialist members compiled by Build UK. The trade body issued a new update to its selection of data, having begun collecting figures on its members following the first publication of the government’s new payment reporting scheme in July.
