Responding to clients’ demands while recognising the need to come up with modern, sustainable solutions is not always the easiest balancing act. But site welfare supplier Advanté’s approach shows it is possible.
As one judge put it, “these guys have it down to a tee” when it comes to anticipating what clients will need and innovating to find the perfect solution.
“They don’t say ‘no’ and they really know what they’re talking about,” said another, with all our judges declaring themselves bowled over by the company’s ability to think on its feet and move with the times.
The past 12 months have provided clear demonstrations of Advanté’s adaptability. In 2015 the company began re-engineering some of its disused fleet into good-as-new Oasis EcoLogic models, thereby meeting its sustainability targets and providing more products for its clients.
Sustainability is a byword for the company, and working to reduce its carbon footprint was one of the goals it met in 2015.
“They don’t say ‘no’ and they really know what they’re talking about”
But a sustainable business with disgruntled clients would mean nothing, so Advanté worked just as hard to improve its users’ experience. The new range of welfare cabins feature silent running, producing a better working environment for staff and, crucially, improving relations with neighbours.
The units also now accommodate both male and female toilets, meeting the demands of an increasingly diverse workforce, while a newly designed modular staircase helped increase site safety and reduced the need for roof access.
The Oasis welfare cabins were developed in direct response to client demand, with one of Advanté’s customers having reported an increasing number of delays on jobs as a result of welfare provision.
The company’s major clients roster features some of the biggest names in construction, including Galliford Try, Morgan Sindall, Taylor Wimpey, Wates and Willmott Dixon.
Advanté’s can-do attitude when it comes to delivering for clients was rewarded when it won the runner-up prize at Willmott Dixon Construction’s Supplier of the Year awards.
In its citation, Willmott Dixon said: “This supplier has been a key part of our operations for many years now and has become an intricate part of the daily running of our sites. Advanté is always reliable, helpful and goes the extra mile to ensure we obtain what we need in a timely manner.”
Highly commended: Fast-Form Systems
For a company founded less than three years ago, Fast-Form Systems has grown at an incredible pace. From sales of £120,000 in its first year, the formwork and shuttering supplier expects sales of around £650,000 in its next set of results.
Based on an innovative design using British materials and manufacturing skills, the Fast-Form system claims to be the lightest on the market and, in an innovation that has delighted clients, can be erected without a crane or mechanical lifter.
The judges were impressed with the level of technical innovation demonstrated by the company. As one put it: “Why has no one done this before?”
