Specialists Awards 2018 Materials Advanced Cold Formed Sections
Advanced Cold-Formed Sections
Advanced Cold-Formed Sections, which supplies recyclable light steel frames and stud / track for residential, hotel and student accommodation projects, has grown into a £5m business since it was established in 2009.
One of its stand-out achievements in the past year was the successful manufacture and delivery of a light steel frame to specialist contractor Metek for its project, The Pavillions in London. The scheme’s position just 12 m above two High Speed 1 rail links presented several engineering challenges but the package was nevertheless installed ahead of programme.
Specialists Awards 2018 Materials Aspect
Aspect Commercial Flooring
Aspect Commercial Flooring has undergone rapid growth over the past three years, seeing its order book double between 2014 and 2016 and expanding its presence in the office fit-out sector.
This financial success has enabled the company to grow its team by 33 per cent, recently hiring a new project manager in a bid to take on more projects. Aspect has also rolled out a quarterly satisfaction survey that covers both its clients at the pre-contract stage and the project managers and end-users the firm works with on site.
Specialists Awards 2018 Materials Cupa
Cupa Pizarras supplied one in every three roof slates worldwide last year, the company says, as it celebrated its 125th year of slate production. The business has invested further in developing its use of building information modelling, with its slate BIM models now used across 44 countries.
It aims to continually improve each stage of operations, from extraction and processing through to storage, packing and transportation. Sustainability has been part of this focus, with several measures taken in 2017 to re-use water and reduce consumption – a major factor in the firm’s production process.
Specialists Awards 2018 Materials Delta Membrane Systems
Delta Membrane Systems
An estimated 5.2m UK homes are at risk from surface, river and coastal flooding, with more than 400,000 of these homes classed as ‘extreme high risk’. Delta Membrane Systems aims to combat the devastation caused by flooding and to ultimately help families return home sooner.
The company has developed flood resilience solutions for homes designed to tackle this risk. It has created membranes to fit to the interior walls to reduce damage as floodwater enters homes. It has also developed a drainage system to be installed under homes to pump floodwater out from properties.
