Landscape construction firm Bridgman & Bridgman complements its work in green roofs with a number of sustainability measures. The firm’s fleet of low-emission vehicles are specifically designed for shared use, which it says reduces the number required for projects by 50 per cent.
Waste sent to landfill has been cut by 93 per cent through composting and chipping green waste, while wood from the company’s tree-cutting team is re-used on roof installations. In the past 12 months Bridgman & Bridgman has also set up a plant-growing facility to cut emissions by supplying its own products, as well as create new employee, apprenticeship and work experience roles.

David Jameson is a second-generation family firm based in Portadown, Northern Ireland, undertaking a range of roofing projects, joinery refurbishments and asbestos works.
The company demonstrated strong customer service through its 24/7 callout teams, reflected by its efforts in response to Storm Dennis in December. In the space of 24 hours the company received 72 emergency callouts to deal with storm damage, yet was able to achieve a 86 per cent attendance within its designated response time.

Mac continued to grow in 2017, turnover increasing 12 per cent year on year in its most recent results to hit £25.4m. The company has invested significantly to this end, bringing in a new team for its southern operations and opening a regional office in Watford.
The firm has expanded its technical support team to meet emerging customer requirements such as BIM and specification support. Health and safey has been another area of focus, with 2017 seeing the appointment of a dedicated head of health & safety to further raise standards across the business alongside its existing H&S manager.

Specialists Awards 2018 Roofing Rowlands Roofing
In November regional roofing specialist Rowlands opened a training centre in Hereford, aimed at giving its own employees as well as other contractors the chance to upskill in roofing, leadwork and supervisory roles.
The company’s commitment to skills is apparent, with four of its nine employees undertaking their NVQ Level 3 Heritage awards. Rowlands teaches heritage skills and has launched upskilling courses in slating and tiling, while managing director Andy Rowlands trains apprentices at the Wales National Training Centre in Caerphilly.
