Ex-Kier HS2 director joins consultant

A former Kier project director who worked on the Silvertown Tunnel and HS2 has joined Peter Brett Associates.

Steve Rees joins the consultant as director of civil engineering with a focus on the North of England.

Mr Rees spent just under two years as a project director at Kier having occupied the same position at Costain working on the Great Western electrification programme.

Before he joined Costain, Mr Rees spent seven years as a director at Parsons Brinckerhoff (now WSP) with his responsibilities including major projects in the UK and internationally.

The consultant said Mr Rees would bring experience in programme management and nuclear new-build as well as significant bridge engineering experience.

Mr Rees has worked on both the existing and second Severn crossings, M5 Avonmouth Bridge and the Boyne cable-stay bridge in Ireland.

PBA’s north and Scotland director Michael Parkinson, said: “This is a tremendous appointment for the business as we look to grow our northern offices significantly in 2019.”

In the summer Canadian engineering giant Stantec acquired the Reading-based Peter Brett Associates.
