Four bid for £30m Bond Street auction house

Four contractors have been shortlisted for the chance to build a £30 million auction house on New Bond Street, Construction News understands.

Bam, ISG, Knight Harwood and Sir Robert McAlpine returned tenders for Bonhams’ new headquarters which will retain its listed shop fronts on Blenheim Street.

Under the plans, which were given the green light last month, three salesrooms, preview galleries, a cafe and new workspace will be added.

The gross development value for the project is worth around £30m while the construction contract is likely to be in the region of £11m.

The new building was designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

Gardiner and Theobold is managing the project and Mott MacDonald is acting as mechanical and electrical consultant.
