Four shortlisted for £100m Seacontainers House revamp

Big names to fight it out for mixed use scheme on the Thames

Four contractors have been invited to tender for the £100 million revamp of Sea Containers House on London’s South Bank, Construction News understands.

Galliford Try, Kier and Skanska have all made the list, together with Byrne Group owned Ellmer Construction.

Southwark Council planning committee last month approved plans for the 45,866 sqm mixed-use scheme, designed by Warren TP Bennett.

The scheme, for developer Archlane, extends and refurbishes the building, creating a 358-bedroom hotel and 28,000 sqm of office space split between the existing building and a nine-story extension.

Construction is expected to start on site in January 2012 and is due to complete at the end of 2013.
