Galliford Try wins £80m NEC casino

Galliford Try has been selected as preferred bidder for an £80 million contract to build a casino and leisure complex at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre.

The group was appointed by Genting UK to build Resorts World, a complex which includes a casino, four star hotel, spa, conference and banqueting facilities, retail outlets, multi-screen cinema, food and drinks outlets and car parking.

Work starts on site in the first quarter of 2012, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of March 2014.

Galliford Try Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald said:  “We are delighted to be selected as preferred bidder by Genting UK for what will be one of the most significant leisure and entertainment developments to be built in the UK in recent years.

“We have a proven ability to deliver multiple mixed-use developments on a large scale, and this project will provide a tremendous addition to our growing portfolio in the commercial sector.”
