02Aug91 UK: OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING CONCERNED OVER POSSIBLE TRAFALGAR HOUSE SPECIALISED PILING MONOPOLY.

Trafalgar House has until today (Thursday) to show the Office of Fair Trading that its acquisition of Davy Corporation will not create a monopoly in specialised piling.Peter Lilley, the Trade Secretary, last week threatened to refer Trafalgar's successful £114 million bid for Davy to the Monopolies Commission unless it 'gave suitable undertakings' to remedy the expected adverse effects.The department is concerned about the merger of both companies' large diameter bored piled operations.Davy
