Sir Norman Longley, former chairman of the Sussex-based family contracting company, died on January 24 at the age of 93. Sir Norman, who was knighted in 1966, was president of the National Federation of Building Trades Employers, the forerunner of the Building Employers Confederation in 1950 and was a Sussex county councillor for 16 years after World War II.
