03Sep92 USA: ZF FRIEDRICHSHAFEN TO BUY ALLISON TRANSMISSIONS.

ZF Friedrichshafen, the German axle and transmission maker, has agreed to buy the Allison Transmission Division of American company General Motors for an undisclosed sum.The deal for the $850 million (£427 million) turnover company is likely to be completed by November once the contract has gained US and German government approval.Allison employs 5,000 workers to make automatic transmissions for construction plant, trucks and military vehicles.A spokesman for ZF said that he expected ...
